She will highlight some specific examples you may have encountered, including swimmer's itch, white grub, and black spot. The Lake Ellen Association

The Lake Ellen Association (www.LakeEllen.com) supports activities to maintain the natural beauty of Lake Ellen including the following through its annual raffle ticket fundraiser:

  • Lake quality monitoring for water clarity and chemistry

  • Participating in the DNR’s Clean Boats/Clean Waters initiative

  • Hand pulling of aquatic invasive species (AIS)

  • Fish Stocking

  • Applying for DNR grants to help pay for a Clean Boats/Clean Waters inspector at landing

  • Donating to the Cascade Fire Department (Includes water rescue equipment)

  • Sponsoring the annual fireworks over Lake Ellen

The Public Boat Landing

The public landing at Lake Ellen is on DNR property.  The property is maintained by the DNR.  JD Trucking provides recycling and garbage pick-up services as a public service.  There are five boat trailer parking spots, one handicapped spot and one car spot available free of charge.  No parking is allowed along Ellenview Rd.  All postings or changes or reports of misuse at the landing need to be directed to the DNR, 1155 Pilgrim Rd, Plymouth, WI, 920-892-8756.

The landing is staffed about 16 hours/week in the summer months with a Clean Boats/Clean Water boat inspector.  This person is hired through DNR grants and the Lake Ellen Association funds.  The purpose of this CB/CW program is to educate boaters and lake users on how invasive plants and animals are transferred between bodies of water, how to avoid bringing them into Lake Ellen and how to avoid taking them out of Lake Ellen.  In addition to the boat inspector, lake property owners annually do some hand-pulling of invasive plants to maintain the lake's water quality and beauty.
